St. John Paul II Catholic High School is pleased to continue a merit-based scholarship opportunity, for the Class of 2029. Our area middle schools consistently produce talented and bright students with top test scores, and we would like to recognize and reward that effort through the Summa Scholarship Program.
SUMMA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE CLASS OF 2029
The Summa Scholarship Program is named after our school’s top honor roll level. Summa Honor Roll Level at St. John Paul II are students whose cumulative grade average for a quarter or semester is 96 or above. For those students, the Summa Pin comes through much hard work and sacrifice and represents a true achievement.
To qualify for the Summa Scholarship Program, a student must similarly reach a very high level. Students will be offered the scholarship at SJPII if they score in the 90 th percentile nationally on the High School Placement Test (HSPT), either through one of four test areas (verbal, quantitative, reading, or math) or composite. The HSPT is administered at SJPII each fall as an evaluative assessment by Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
The awards are worth $500 and can be renewed annually if a student maintains a high level of achievement at SJPII. Students must test at SJPIICHS in order to be considered for this scholarship program.
Students will be notified of the award with acceptance letters in Feb., on the day that all schools in the Archdiocese mail home letters of acceptance.
We also have a HSPT tutoring session on Saturday November 2nd.
