Admissions to John Paul II
ADMISSIONS POLICY
John Paul II Catholic High School seeks to enroll young women and
young men of any race, color, creed, national, or ethnic origin who
will benefit from and contribute to the educational community of the
school. An applicant and his/her parents have the opportunity to
become acquainted with this community through the school’s
literature, our evening presentations, or a personal interview with
the Principal. At the same time, they can learn of John Paul’s
vision and mission, and of the concrete programs by which those
goals are pursued.
ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
JPII is accepting freshman, sophomore, and junior applications
for the 2011-12 School Year.
INCOMING FRESHMEN - Grade 9
The Class of 2015
Take the High School Placement Test
(from Scholastic Testing Service) at the John Paul II campus on the
morning of Saturday, 4 December 2010.
Complete an application packet,
which includes the information form. Mail the packet to the school
once complete. The application packets are now being accepted at any time.
School records need to be sent to
John Paul II, which consist of a transcript for the middle school
career (grades 6, 7, and the fall semester of grade 8) and all
standardized test results from the middle school years. John Paul
II will request the records from Catholic grade schools. Public
school candidates need to request these records on their own. Some
public schools will copy and mail them for parents. Other schools
will copy and give to parents; in this case, please mail them
directly to JPII. Home school families should consult with JPII to determine
what records and letters are available and can be submitted.
Two letters of recommendation from
current teachers (a middle school language arts teacher and a middle
school math teacher) need to be received by the school. A school
administrator can write a recommendation if desired. Students should supply the recommending
teachers with an addressed stamped envelope (John Paul II Catholic
High School; Admissions Committee; 6720 FM 482; New Braunfels, Texas
78132). Be sure your name is on the envelope as well as on the
recommendation form.
An interview with the administration
(when deemed possible and/or necessary). The school will contact
the applicant if this is necessary.
♦ For incoming freshmen, once the admissions file is complete, we can give an admissions decision.
We will begin sending out letters on Friday, 4 February 2011 (the unified admissions decision
date for all Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese). After that date, admissions decisions will be made and communicated as soon as the file is complete (with school records and letters of recommendation).
